October Black’s Beach Day

Fall in Southern California still means beach weather — join us this Saturday for a laid-back day in the sun and surf at Black’s Beach in La Jolla.

NitOC, Camping Bares, SCNA, and ODR friends are all invited, and RCNA will be there too — come soak up the sun, swim, toss a Frisbee or hit the volleyball courts, build sandcastles, or just walk the shoreline down to the rocks and back.

It’s a family-friendly gathering on a beach wide and long enough for everyone to find their own space, with or without kids. First time at Black’s? Expect a wide stretch of very fine sand — best enjoyed when the tide isn’t too high.

Getting there: take the trail at the south end of the Glider Port parking lot, about three hundred steps down to the beach (roughly 300 feet below the lot). Parking is free and first-come, first-served. Trail details and elevation here: View on AllTrails

When the trail meets the beach, turn right and walk down about a quarter mile, past all three volleyball courts — look for the group gathered near the palm tree against the cliff.
